E-Pilot

The E-PILOT project is a research project funded by the ANR that brings together ten public and private partners. It is led by the SRO laboratory of the GERS department. The IMSE laboratory is co-responsible for one of the work packages. The project runs for 4 years starting from February 1, 2022, and follows on from the TULIP project.

Urban centers in major cities around the world are gradually becoming denser, putting existing infrastructure under strain: excavation work impacts the surrounding land up to the surface, and the construction of new tunnels can have adverse consequences for structures founded on piles. These consequences could be significantly limited by improving the prediction of foundation behavior during and after the excavation and tunnel construction phases, and then during the operation phase. Such progress would notably help to limit financial risks during construction phases and improve the environmental performance of infrastructure projects.
